Sarah's Specialized Work: IBS & Digestive Issues, Headaches & Migraines, Female Specific Ailments, Immune System, Chronic Pain, Allergies. A Chinese Medicine Practitioner can utilize the same methods of diagnosis, pattern differentiation method and treatment that Practitioners have been using for thousands of years, to treat that very same pattern often with profound results. One of the big differences between Western medicine and Chinese Medicine is that Chinese Medicine is focused on restoring the functional mechanisms affecting the whole person versus fixing one small part and ignoring the rest. Since completing the intensive 4-year program at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in Victoria BC, I've been in practice for about 20 years. I also hold licenses to practice as a Registered Acupuncturist and a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner. I have served on our largest provincial association (ATCMA of BC) for 6 years, 2 of those years as the president. I'm committed to furthering my education, and I offer practical and empathetic care with a unique approach for every patient. We're all different, and we all need different things. Everyone has their own path to healing and recovery and I'm here to assist you along yours. I've completed extensive post-graduate training including the following: A 1-year post graduate program with Dr. Edward Neal at the Institute of Neijing Studies, where I was able to do a deep exploration into one of the most important, historical, foundational Acupuncture texts that dates back 3000+ years – The Huang Di Nei Jing. A 2-year postgraduate program at The Institute of Classics of East Asian Medicine (www.iceam.org) a deep dive into Chinese herbal Medicine studying with some of the best and brightest minds in Chinese Herbal Medicine. Since graduating, I have continued advanced studies with this institute on a consistent and regular basis, joining approximately 450 graduates from this program from around the world in studying and refining our skills as practitioners of classical Chinese herbal medicine. I am now in my 12th year of advanced study with ICEAM. In my practice, I use a variety of Chinese Medicine modalities, including acupuncture, fire cupping and silicone cupping, gua sha, tuina (massage), and Chinese herbal Medicine along with modern treatment modalities such as IMS and dry needling. I'm especially drawn to treating symptoms of stress, insomnia, depression, menstrual issues such as dysmenorrhea and PMS, skin concerns, digestive conditions, and autoimmune conditions, but I can utilize Chinese Medicine principles to address a wide variety of health concerns. I have a keen interest in treating the whole person and not just the symptoms.
